Apr. 16th, 2005 03:03 pmAs regular readers of this LJ know, I really like unusual hair color. And for a time I was regularly bleaching out streaks and dying most or all of them deep red. Unfortunately this is a costly habit, requiring touch up every 6 (better) to 8 (at most) weeks.
I don't have the money for this so I stopped doing it. In fact I've also taken to having my hair cut a bit shorter than I may like in order to stretch the time between cuts. An above the collar asymmetric bob (shorter back, longer front) can last me 3 or 4 months before reaching the stage where it stops curling under nicely for me. And I must admit, I do look better with my hair no longer than brushing shoulder length. Even if I do miss putting my hair up into interesting scroll shaped buns like I used to.
Anyway, I think I have come up with a way to enjoy funky streaks of color and longer hair. Cost is prohibitive but one time. And I'm a crafty sort of person so I might be able to significantly reduce cost on the more extravagant alternatives.
For your viewing pleasure:
Halo Frame Hair Addition Bang - This one would probably be nearly as expensive to make, though with my large head size making my own might be the only want to get one that really works (though I'm sure I could extend a purchased one)
Halo Frame Plus - Take a look at the price! O.O This one I think would be cheaper to make, and I already have ideas how based on the description.
Both of these could take funky streaks easily, and with the addition of a few clip in hair extensions in the hair "inside" the halo frame I think I could manage a passably "real" look.
All of this post inspired by the fact I'm wearing my fake longer ponytail today. :)
