I was in the living room talking with [livejournal.com profile] hafoc and I look over toward the hall and see Shadow trotting along, tail in the air in that posture that signifies "pleased with myself", and a toy in her mouth.

I focused on her mouth, because that shape wasn't any toy I was familiar with, and she was so pleased I wondered if she had silently caught a live mouse or something.

The something was pale pink and yellow and had long silvery sticks poking out of it. In fact it looked a lot like this:

Candy Floss Bolero

Which is what I had left on my desk in the middle of a row to go see what Hafoc was chuckling at.

Shadow, ever courteous, let me have it, and followed me as I quickly collected the yards of sewing thread that had rolled off the spools behind her. The majority of the "damage" was the tangle I made collecting the thread. And the wet ends left from my cast on, ew.

I sat at the dining room table to untangle things and rewind spools. Since I was there, I finished the row, and just as I set the knitting down Shadow walks up and looks at me, all big eyes and dark floofy face and trills.

"Hi! I'm cute and floofy and soft and cuddly and purr-y... and I just stole your knitting and you still love me."

oh my gosh, that's priceless and so like a cat--I have 5 so I know! They do annoying things and then deflate your irritation by their sheer cuteness! At least she didn't eat it--my dog would have chewed it to pieces. I so feel for you having to clean up the thread though, what a job! Anyway it was a great story, made me smile. ^_^

I'd love to know what they think--like, why did you decide to grab it this time and not before? I can just picture her carrying that, too cute! Now, my cat Riley tries to catch my dental floss every time I floss--I guess the movement intrigues him. Meanwhile I have two cats who try to catch their tails, one does it every morning while waiting for the morning can of cat food, and the other every evening when she's sitting on my lap. Why they do this and on a schedule, I have no idea! That's why I wish I could just talk to them and understand it. Oh well, at least they're a ton of fun to watch!

for projects of this size, see if you can find an empty 100-disc (or maybe even 50-disc altho depending on your dpn length, you might need 100 disc) cd spindle and cover. turn it upside down so the spindle-part becomes the lid, and voilia, instant repurposed project case, clear so you can see what's inside and hard-plastic to keep ani-mauls out. if necessary, cut off the spindle for extra internal space.

You have so much patience for the tiny things. Do you sell your bjd knitting or just keep for yourself?
