Sep. 28th, 2004 04:28 pmMusic meme taken from
khlara's journal:
Step 1: Open your Winamp or other MP3 player.
Step 2: Put all of your music on random.
Step 3: Write down the first 25 songs it plays, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 4: Wait for complaints about the esoteric nature of your mp3s.
Step 2 is annoying if you have OGG files, Winamp doesn't seem to want to add those automatically, forcing you to remember what artists you have in OGG format. I'm using Windows' search function to find them and then enqueue them.... Hmm, it seems if you use the Media Library to list all your music and then enqueue all it will get the OGG files. So why doesn't it do that if you use the Add Directory thing and select the top level directory and check Recurse Into Subdirectories?
Anyway, over three days worth of music now queued up, jotting down the first 25 to play.
1) Union Underground - Killing the Fly
2) Static-X - A Dios Alma Perdida
3) Disturbed - Liberate
4) B-52s - Planet Z
5) Sisters of Mercy - Marian
6) Vast - Somewhere Else to Be
7) Stabbing Westward - Control
8) Bloodhound Gang - Fire Water Burn
9) Type O Negative - Hallows Eve
10) A Perfect Circle - Orestes
11) Sister Machine Gun - Loser
12) Inkubus Sukkubus - Queen of the May
13) Aerosmith - Love in an Elevator
14) Therion - Via Noctura (I and II)
15) Metallica - Astronomy
16) Eve 6 - Superhero Girl
17) Static-X - Bled for Days
18) Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
19) Alicia Keys - Fallin'
20) Sister Machine Gun - Never
21) Pearl Jam - Jeremy (Unplugged version)
22) Bon Jovi - Blaze of Glory
23) Rob Zombie & Alice Cooper - Hands Of Death (Burn Baby Burn)
24) Therion - The Beauty in Black
25) U2 - Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the World
8 is a bit embarrassing, I have much better takes on Fire Water Burn (Too Cool Chris and Coal Chamber for instance) in my collection.
15 has to be pissing off someone.
17 was the first song I heard by them, and then reason I bought Wisconsin Death Trip (I generally prefer Machine to WDT though).
19 always makes me sing along.
23 may be a faked MP3, but it sounds like Rob Zombie (I don't listen to enough Alice Cooper to identify him easily).
Hmph, none of my weird stuff turned up. Oh well.
[I doubt anyone (with the possible exception of
dewhitton) will recognize the current music.]

Date: 2004-09-28 09:43 pm (UTC)So, recommend any good Aussie bands? I think you can guess what other Aussies I have in my collection with only one hint: I was a teenager in the 80s. ;>
