Michigan Works, doesn't know if it is an employment agency, especially not as defined by Sallie Mae. Sallie Mae doesn't know either (that might be a side effect of having their call center in INDIA but it would probably be discriminatory or something to suggest that).

MI Works apparently doesn't do squat to actually help you find a job either. "You can put your resume online!" I can do that at home. "You can search for a job online!" Yeah, I can do that at home too. Can they help me with my resume? "We can ask you questions for you to think about!" Yeah, that will help, thanks.

So after making calls that got me no where until I started getting "our office hours are" recorded responses (MI Works should hire me, they have cushy hours!) I decided that I should clear snow off the Jeep. I need to go out and do errands tomorrow, and maybe corner someone in person to look at paperwork and figure out if they're an employment (but not TEMP) agency or not. (Temp agencies don't qualify as employment agencies with Sallie Mae.)

And it's snowing so clearing the Jeep was probably pointless, but at leas there will be less snow to clear tomorrow.

Then I figured "hey, I'm out here, I have tools in the Jeep, I'll replace that bulb that burned out in my tail light!"

Great plan Tephie, you should have thought of it when we had a week of thawing weather and it was in the 40s, it would have gone easy then. But NO, you had to remember that little chore when it's 28 degrees and snowing. After a thaw. When there is ice gluing the tail light assembly to the Jeep.

Fuck it. I am not fishing out an extension and the hair dryer (or the heat gun) to thaw that out when it's getting darker and colder by the minute. I'll give the assembly a whack tomorrow and if it comes loose I'll replace the bulb, otherwise it can stay as is while I do errands. Even with the bolts out it can't fall out when the hatch is closed even if the ice does melt.

At least the repair guy for the dishwasher was timely (and oddly similar to a younger Johnny Depp).

I got some knitting done on my hat. And discovered I managed to get an extra 4 stitches in there somewhere, probably when I corrected for my increases in the first row. It's not an issue really, especially since I did it at the beginning of the pattern stitch, it just makes doing the decreases trickier. I'm opting to take the extra 4 stitches out about an inch before I do the regular decreases. I'm pretty sure no one but me will ever notice, and give me some time away from focusing on the thing and I'll probably not be able to find it myself.

Oh, and yesterday was "OMG, person coming over, CLEAN SKUZZY KITCHEN!" day, so I have a pretty squeaky kitchen now too.

Ah, that's better, reviewing what actually went well today (and yesterday) makes me feel not quite so "OMFG, I suck!"... now if I could actually sort my life out so I don't have so much reason to feel like that in the first place.... :P

I do suck.

I just spotted a dropped stitch in my hat about 4 rows back. *head!desk*
