NaNo and Knitting Update

On the knitting front, I've mostly doing the knitting equivalent of doodling. I haven't worked on my sweater this month, it just takes too much time to do a set of rows. I haven't worked on my shawl since July so I'll probably pick that up again after NaNo with the sweater.
Things I have knit since the last knitting update:

Fingerless mittens. They're the same pattern I've done twice before but this time I knit the longer cuff and shorter knuckles. They're my NaNo mitts but I haven't had cold typing fingers this year yet.

Sideways knit hats. The first one is for me, the others are gifts.

What the tops look like. Apparently I forgot to take one of the top of my purple one.
What I am currently I'm working on:

A new cover for the older heating pad. It's just a simple tube of linen stitch in 100% cotton yarn. When it's long enough I'll sew one end closed and maybe crochet on some ties on the other to make it stay on the pad (the original cover doesn't have any sort of tie). This is totally mindless knitting, just knit one, slip one with yarn in front, over and over and over.... Once NaNo is done I'm putting in some DVDs and just knitting on this thing until I get the necessary 15 inches done.

Ursula Vernon fans will know this logo. This is really just a swatch to try out the stitch chart I made from the Red Wombat Tea Co. logo but it should serve as a decent "hot" pad for things that aren't so hot that they'll melt acrylic. It's just scrap yarn. If I were to make one for "real" it would be better planned (so it would be square) and made either with cotton or wool.

A neck warmer to go with my Foliage hat. The coat the hat goes best with is a bit open at the neck even when buttoned up completely so this will be a short little scarflet that overlaps on my upper chest and buttons closed.

Date: 2008-11-30 06:05 pm (UTC)I generally don't do commissions because I am a slow knitter and the economics don't work out. I'd estimate that those fingerless mitts took 16-20 hours of knitting. (And this is a bad season for time, NaNo ate a lot of it and now I'm finishing up Christmas knitting, things don't really lighten up until February.) I'm trying to think of where you could go to find speedier knitters to inquire with, maybe ask the mod of
