Knitting project update

It's been a while since I posted about my knitting with photos, so if you're curious, click the cut.
Well, I think it's oldest first, I didn't note down the exact dates I finished most of these. Ravelry is integrated with Flickr so if you want bigger images click the thumbnails, though I didn't upload huge photos to start with so they won't be that much bigger (at least on the older stuff).

Those slippers I made way back when. Looking at the photos I now know why people always think my feet are smaller than they are, hello there thick ankles.

My blue(rasp)berry beret
This turned out MUCH bigger than I thought it would. I should have made it shorter I think, and the band stretches so much I added a couple elastic cords to keep it on my head.
Still, I like the way the color knit up, and it's very soft and squishy.

So I had these two 8oz skeins of pretty icky black acrylic yarn from about 20 years ago. No yardage information on the bands, no results on the net (other than finding someone else had bought some back then from Kmart), so I had to guesstimate how much I had. Figuring that a lace shrug would maximize yardage versus coverage, I used the Craftster Circular Shrug as inspiration and started knitting.
I hate that front shot, the angle isn't the greatest but really, I don't like any frontal photos of myself so.... Also, probably not likely to wear it pinned shut like that, but it's a photo to show off the knitting, not the knitter.
Also, the icky acrylic? Washed with softener it's all soft and squishy and nice. Not as plush as the Bernat yarn from the hat above, but pleasant to wear.

Remember that angsty post when the Jeep wouldn't start? This is the hat I made from my "cheer up" yarn.
Still a bit loose in the band, if I knit another I should have it right. This was my first attempt at "provisional tail" tubular cast on and I apparently need to drop down two needle sizes for the foundation rows. I wonder if twisted rib would tighten that up some.... Anyway, the overal hat size is okay, but could be a bit bigger, this one is of a size that I could shape it into a classic beret with ease.

Hmm, maybe I should take another shot of this one, I hadn't realized it was that blurry.
A modified Unoriginal Hat. This precisely used up the last bit of the black yarn from the lace shrug and the gemstone variegated from my slippers (actually, I had to frog the sole from the slipper I started crocheting years ago when I bought the yarn to have enough).
I LOVE THIS HAT. Sure, it could be about 4 rows longer but it's wearable and I adore the color combo.

I loved it so much I made another one. This one I used smaller needles and did the full number of rows. It's about 4 rows too long this time. :D
The yarn colorway is "Aspen" and neither photo gets it right, it's somewhere between the two. Sand, sienna, teal, blue, moss, and pine all in pleasant muted tones, I feel the urge to think of something else I can make with this yarn, I love the colors so much.
And, since I'm loading you up with photos anyway:

A bad shot of my gauge swatch for the sweater I'm about to start. The blue line is the division between the size 10 and the size 10.5 needles. The yarn is redder than that, bluer than garnet, redder than eggplant.....

The yarn I grabbed from Big Lots. The Thick & Quick is, once again, more red than that, it's "royal purple". The other shot is 10 of the 21 skeins of "moonshadow" suede. It's basically mottled charcoal and blue tones of grey.
