Well I'm browsing around to get an idea of the cost of already wefted synthetic hair (that likely being the cheapest practical solution for my nebulous halo frame project) and came across a site that might be of interest to jirris_midvale

No idea on the cost, but I've already babbled my ideas on making your own in his journal. :)

Oh, an addition on the make your own front, apparently RIT liquid dye will color synthetic hair, but you can only make it darker. A white or pale blonde wig could therefore theoretically become "Jirris Red".

I thought you might find it interesting. From the looks of it she modifies wigs from Amphigory or Tart Blossom, restyling, adding hair, combining multiple wigs, etc. After seeing some of those I think Jirris' hair wouldn't be that much of a challenge, provided enough hairpsray. ;)

*nods* Yeah, it does look *very* possible. She uses Silicone caulk. Hmm. Interesting.

I found that to be both amusing and interesting. It sure beats taking the time to hand weave and sew traditional weft. I doubt it would work for more realistic styles but for anime big hair it sure makes things go quicker. There's an LJ community called wigmakers that I've seen her post in that might be worth checking into as well.
