I've spent more than an hour trying to find the answer to this so I've decided to toss the question here in the vague hope that someone will read it and have the answer.
Is there a way to make Thunderbird (NOT the default email client) open URLs in Firefox (NOT the default browser)? If Firefox was the default browser this would not be a problem, but because this is not my PC and my brother is not at all computer savvy (and has no interest in becoming so) changing the default browser to Firefox from IE is not an option.
I'm frankly amazed that I could not find a setting in Thunderbird where you can specify what browser to use. I even went poking in the advanced settings of the prefs.js file. If there's an entry I could put in a user.js file to change the browser I haven't found any hint of it anywhere (in fact all I can find about editing the user.js file is where it should be located and that it doesn't exist by default.)
So, anyone have a nice site with a rundown of what could be put in that user.js file?
Edit to add:
I have found a list of preferences to work with. Based on what I see here, and on a site about integrating Thunderbird and Firefox on *nix, I thought I would have it solved with these six entries in my user.js file:
It still doesn't work (even though all of these show up in about:config and look correct.) Am I missing a typo or another setting that I need to tweak or something?
Tried adding the following, no effect:

Date: 2006-08-05 07:55 pm (UTC)So I thought I'd spam you with "The Adventures of Neko chan!"
She is quite put out and pouting at me. Her little squeak toy that she worked so hard to get out of the garage and its nest, absolutely REFUSES to play with her anymore! How dare it up and DIE on her! XD
I told her to go get a half dozen more and we'd discuss a can of tuna for supper.. so long as she doesnt bring any of them in the house.
Further note: Bo seems to be tag teaming with her as I heard much flurry of paws and squealage from his end of the yard. I suspect Mama rat has died somewhere and the babies are coming out out of hunger.
Must remember to get poison next month when I have $$. Though it was worth it to watch Neko playing with her toy. "Look Mom if I smack its butt it runs and I can bat at it. If I bite it's tail it SQUEAKS!"

Date: 2006-08-05 08:14 pm (UTC)The night I was reading that series of journals that made up that "house that eats people" story I heard some clawed scrabbling in the hallway and wild chittering and squeaking. (My cats have Timing, what I can I say?) I grabbed a flashlight and went out to see what was going on only to find Penny and Shadow crouching by the CD rack and TV respectively (with Patches supervising from a few feet away. I spotlighted a bit of flank with the flashlight, which made the mouse (I think, could have been a small rat) turn so I saw a bit of tail. This action revealed a bit more of Shadow's intelligence, where mommy shines the light is where the squeaky toy is hiding! Anywhere I moved to get a look at the thing, and anywhere the light went, Shadow followed and went hunting.
If that cat had thumbs we'd be in trouble.
Be careful with the poison, wouldn't do for the cats to catch a poisoned rat and eat it. :P
