Been busy the last couple days, most of it uninteresting.

I got the Jeep inspected so it's legal for a year. Then I dropped it off to see if they could finally find the squeak I've been trying to get them to hear for about a year. Since it had progressed to squeaking when changing lanes on the highway they were able to hear it and replaced the front sway bars. Now I adore the guys at Tom's, they know me by name, sight, and Jeep and know they don't have to simplify the parts talk since I do know a bit about automotive issues (though the last time I assisted in pulling an engine was before college), but I do think they might have looked a bit harder when I told them I thought the squeaking issue was suspension related. But I will miss the guys at Tom's, they're quick, efficient, and they price fairly. I shall need to find myself a good garage in Gaylord.

I also took care of a minor, though annoying, personal issue. I had my hair dyed back to my natural color, or a reasonable facsimile thereof. Until I find an adventuresome hair stylist in Gaylord (pray for me, oh people of interesting unnatural hair colors) I thought it would be wise to have my blonde and RED streaks dyed back to the background and blended with my roots. The resulting color is still streaky, it's just streaky BROWN and BORING (and slightly lighter than my natural color but it shouldn't show my roots and should be matchable if the roots are too obvious in a couple months). I think I shall miss Li even more than the guys at Tom's. She wasn't afraid of unnatural shades of red and was open to the idea of purple streaks (which I had been considering for this time of year if I hadn't up and decided to go back to Michigan). She was also intrigued by the Microring system for hair extensions (now called "Linkies" at Doctored Locks) that I was also considering.

Anyway, in order to appease my offended sensibilities about having BROWN hair again I opted for an asymmetric cut, shorter than I have been getting. It's above the collar in back (slightly stacked, not wedged), jaw length in front. It's weird to have air on the back of my neck when my hair is completely down....

Things still to do, get my Stuph™ together and figure out how to pack it all into the Jeep. I may be forced to get a hitch installed and rent a trailer (I hear [livejournal.com profile] hafoc whimpering from here). You see, I have a color laser printer, a 19" monitor, my fairly large tower, scanner, speakers, and TWO Sun Ultra10s as well as clothing, CDs (and a few DVDs, but the CDs are the main collection), a few books, and a fairly large stack of Geek Knowledge in Dead Tree Editions (aka, my Solaris training materials, good thing my personal SQL and Javascript books are already in Michigan, betcha Hafoc didn't know that ;> ). Oh, and must not forget any of my CDs of software, and that spare CD drive and my network cables and.... Well, you get the idea.

On a completely unrelated note, has anyone else noticed WinAmp 5.03 doesn't seem to pick up OGG files if you tell it to add an entire directory (recurse into subdirectories) to the playlist? Is there a solution to this other than remembering what music you have in OGG format?
