Mar. 22nd, 2005 12:16 am*sigh* An hour into Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust the video locked up on me. So I try opening the file again, figuring I'll just "fast forward" to approximately the right spot and see if it's a file corruption or the player going weird. Winamp says, "nuh uh, no skipping ahead" and blithely plays on from the beginning. So I open in Media Player which says "you know, the extension on this file doesn't match what it is, but I'm not going to tell you what it should be" and I say "play the damn thing anyway" and it does, but it apparently talked to Winamp because it's not letting me skip ahead either.
Now the movie was okay as far as I saw, but not so good that I'm going to sit through it for a hour watching what I've already seen just to see if I can actually watch the rest or if I need to retransfer the file.
So, any recommendations on software to watch avi/mpg/video in general that is free and not Windows Media Player or Winamp?
