And so it goes
Nov. 2nd, 2010 11:33 pmI'm at 3574 words, on schedule and very slightly ahead. While this is good for NaNo terms its not good writing. Today's entire section is filler basically, something I would have written off in a paragraph because it has nothing to add to the story. It does show some small hints of Dan's character, but those could have been woven into more relevant scenes instead. Oh well, this is a rough draft and the time spent typing in filler gives me the opportunity to think ahead and try to figure out what is really going on. Finding a plot early would be nice, as opposed to my usual 15,000 words (or more) into things.

Date: 2010-11-03 03:24 pm (UTC)I'm finding that by knowing the plot and direction w/the ending already decided that I can't sit and focus on the linear details. My fingers want to just type up scenes at random.
When I get home I'm going to open up a new document and just start "telling" the story and see if I can get all the major events in order. Then I can go back and break these up into "chapters" and fill in the details and dialogue as I weave in all the interesting stuff.
Or I will sit Sean, Ravis and Riat in a corner and tell them to stay there and behave while I get things done in an A-Z and 1+1 manner.
Some how, I think the troublesome threesome is going to win this battle.....
