Apr. 20th, 2005 04:28 pmI know there are people way geekier than me, so I shall be content with a mere 90.
I'm playing with Thunderbird today. Pegasus hasn't been very stable for me on XP, a lot of crashes due to image files (MCU issues with GIFs and problems with Huffman symbols with JPGs) and since I get a lot of mail with image files thanks to my PSP groups that's been a real PITA. After a dozen crashes today alone and the loss of about 80 messages when an entire folder shot into limbo I had enough.
So far I'm liking Thunderbird. I haven't transfered my old mail over yet but it shouldn't be an issue. Thunderbird uses mbox format and Pegasus can use it as well (though it uses its own format natively) so I'll just make a bunch of mbox format folders in Pegasus and then copy the files over into the Thunderbird install. I'll just recreate my mail filters since there were a lot of older, unused, filters in my Pegasus install (I've been running Pegasus since '96 after all).
I'm hoping to be able to convert my random quote file into something usable in Thunderbird (I installed Tagzilla and Signature extensions in the hope that one, or both, might be of use). In the absolute worst case I'll bash about on my mail server and have signatures attached to the mail on the server as they pass through. I wonder if Thunderbird will let me add custom header info....
