My dreams, while highly detailed visually, usually don't have stunning visuals. Normally I get some sort of narrative or character driven dream. Last night though, I got some stunning visuals (added to a rather dull dream about appearances and poverty and neighbors with all the compassion of rabid animals).

I was walking toward my parents' house and glanced over to the south, where in reality you can, on a clear day, see the top of the next hill over and what the 4-H camp is doing with their horses (that last part with binoculars of course). Well in the dream it wasn't so prosaic, the gap between the maples and lilacs was filled with Stonehenge and not the garden, and the top of the next hill featured the Acropolis*. For some reason this wasn't all that odd and I kept walking and the next glance over had prehistoric beasts (megafauna) and a parade of assorted modern African animals. This apparently made dream me at least somewhat curious and I walked back and looked again to see the Stonehenge one (having apparently decided that the angle I was looking in determined if I got ruins or ruminants). Stonehenge was still there but now the Acropolis was some abandoned factory complex, mostly painted white with some rust and rivets, in the same general configuration the columns had. I woke up about then, and made some weird notes I can barely make sense of. I know there was more detail in both of those scenes but I can't recall them now and I think I was losing them as I was making notes. Pity.

*Actually, having just looked up the Acropolis to see if I spelled it correctly or not, it wasn't in my dream. That's the name my dream self put on it but this was far more ruined, it had some tall fluted columns with impressive capitals and a frieze in the lintels in a corner arrangement and a few that could have been part of a wall leading to that corner but it wasn't obviously a building.

And on a completely unrelated note, it takes for-freaking-evah to get your Elfwood gallery updated. I'm still waiting on mine, current queue is about 16 days old and I'm about 393rd in line. :P
