ummm, if you wanna come visit, we have a cassette deck that has a line out... i burned a bunch of my old massage music tapes to cd's a few years ago. the deck in question is a component of richard's stereo system (he was quite the audiophile when he was young and had 'all the right stuff' lol), and it was awkward to do since the only cable i could find to connect the line out on the cassette deck to my sound card was pretty short, but it worked in the end. i'm guessing since your mp3 player has it's own cable (or whatever) that it would be a less cumbersome process. :P although now that i think of it, the line out is separated into 2 channels, so it required a special cable adapter thingy.
good luck finding a setup that will work. and if you get desperate enough to make a pilgrimage to pittsburgh, give me a little advance warning. ;)
